A native of Colorado, Jeff Herring grew up in Glenwood Springs, moved to the Denver area in 1982 and settled in Arvada in 1990. He is married and has two boys.

Jeff got his first scroll saw in 1992 to help with Cub Scout projects. He is a self taught intarsia artist.

Another term for intarsia is wood inlay relief, in which each piece of wood is cut, shaped and pit together like a puzzle. Jeff enjoys working with natural exotic hardwoods. He also builds custom cabinets and furniture in his shop and enjoys watching the grain in the wood come to life.
